At Floating Axe Woodworks, our goal is to continue the story of the trees that come into our shop by milling each log into lumber in such a way as to preserve the unique character of the tree it comes from. That piece of wood then gets a new life and continues its story when it’s made into a beautiful piece of furniture. All our products are kiln dried and milled onsite from locally sourced Michigan trees. We stock most of our wood with a live edge, which allows us the greatest versatility for what we offer to our customers. Much of what we sell started with a live edge, but we remove the live edge as needed. As we often say, "it's easier to take the live edge off if it isn't needed, then to try and put it back on."
